PRIVACY POLICY FOR F0CUSLY

Last Updated: 31/10/2025

Our Commitment

F0cusly is built on a simple principle: your thoughts are yours. We designed this app so that your notes, voice recordings, and AI interactions never leave your device. This isn't marketing—it's architecture.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect (almost nothing), where it's stored (on your device), and what rights you have (all of them).

1. Information We Collect and Store

On Your Device (Local Storage Only)

F0cusly stores the following data locally on your iPhone in an encrypted SQLite database:

This data never leaves your device. We have no servers to receive it, no cloud storage to sync it to, and no way to access it.

On Our Servers (None)

We do not collect, transmit, store, or process:

We don't have analytics. We don't know how you use the app, what you search for, or what you create.

Third-Party Processing (Apple Only)

F0cusly uses the following Apple frameworks, which process data locally on your device:

According to Apple's privacy policies, these frameworks do not send your data to Apple's servers when processing locally. You can verify this by using F0cusly in airplane mode—everything still works.

Network Activity

The only network requests F0cusly makes are:

  1. One-time AI model download (2-3GB, happens once during initial setup)
  2. App Store update checks (handled by iOS, not by us)

After the initial model download, F0cusly functions entirely offline. We do not make API calls, phone home, or transmit any user data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We don't. Because we don't have it.

All processing happens on your device:

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your data with anyone. Because we don't collect it in the first place.

F0cusly does not integrate with:

4. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

Your data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database in your iPhone's app sandbox. This is protected by:

No Cloud Servers

We don't operate servers that store user data. There are no databases to breach, no cloud buckets to misconfigure, and no employee access to your notes.

Your Responsibility

Since all data lives on your device:

5. iCloud Backup (Optional)

If you enable iCloud Backup on your iPhone (Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup), iOS will back up F0cusly's local database to your personal iCloud storage.

Important:

If you prefer true zero-cloud operation, disable iCloud Backup for F0cusly or use encrypted local iTunes/Finder backups instead.

6. Children's Privacy

F0cusly does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13 (or under 16 in Europe). Since we don't collect data at all, COPPA and GDPR child protections are inherently satisfied.

If you're a parent and have concerns, contact us at [your support email].

7. Your Privacy Rights

Since F0cusly doesn't collect your data, traditional privacy rights (access, deletion, portability) work differently:

Right to Access

Your data is already accessible to you in the app. You can view, edit, and search all your notes, tasks, and settings at any time.

Right to Deletion

Delete individual notes or tasks within the app, or delete the entire app to remove all local data. We have nothing to delete on our end because we never received it.

Right to Portability

Your notes are stored in a local SQLite database. While there's no built-in "Export All" feature currently, you own the data and can copy individual notes using the app's copy function.

Right to Opt-Out of Sale

We don't sell data. We don't have data to sell. This right is automatically satisfied.

Right to Correct Inaccurate Data

Edit any note, task, or setting directly in the app.

Applicable Laws

This policy is designed to comply with:

If you're in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights and have questions, contact us.

8. International Users

F0cusly works the same way everywhere: locally on your device.

We don't operate international servers or cross-border data transfers because we don't operate servers at all. Your data never leaves your device, regardless of where you're located.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we update this policy (for example, to reflect new features or legal requirements), we'll:

  1. Update the "Last Updated" date at the top
  2. Notify you via an in-app message or App Store update notes
  3. Post the new policy at [your website URL]

Material changes (like adding cloud sync or analytics) would require an app update you'd have to install. We won't change data collection practices silently.

10. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests about this Privacy Policy:

Email: support@focusly.app
Website: focusly.app

11. Legal Compliance and Disclosures

Law Enforcement Requests

Because we don't collect or store your data on our servers, we have nothing to provide to law enforcement even if legally compelled. Any data access would require physical access to your device through standard legal channels (search warrants, etc.).

Business Transfers

If F0cusly is acquired or merged with another company, your data remains on your device. A new owner cannot access it because we don't store it. They would only acquire the app code and the right to distribute it.

Compliance Certifications

We don't hold third-party privacy certifications (like Privacy Shield or SOC 2) because they apply to companies that handle user data on servers. Our architecture makes traditional data-handling certifications irrelevant.

12. How to Verify Our Claims

We encourage technical users to verify our privacy claims:

Airplane Mode Test

Turn on airplane mode after downloading the AI model. Use F0cusly fully—transcription, search, AI responses, tasks, Pomodoro. Everything works. That's only possible if processing is local.

Network Monitor Test

Use a packet sniffer or network monitor (Charles Proxy, Wireshark, etc.) while using F0cusly. After the initial model download, you'll see zero API calls to our servers during normal use. Because there are no servers to call.

Storage Inspection

Check iPhone Storage (Settings > General > iPhone Storage > F0cusly). You'll see the AI model (~2-3GB) and your local database. That's YOUR copy, not a cloud cache.

We don't ask you to trust us blindly. We built the app so you can verify.

13. Jurisdiction-Specific Notices

For California Users (CCPA/CPRA)

F0cusly does not sell or share personal information. We do not collect personal information in a manner that triggers CCPA obligations. You have the right to request information about data collection practices, but since we collect nothing, there's nothing to disclose beyond this policy.

For European and UK Users (GDPR)

F0cusly does not transfer data outside the EEA/UK because data never leaves your device. We are not a data controller or processor in the traditional sense—you control your data entirely. Legal basis for local processing: your consent via app usage and necessity for app functionality.

For Canadian Users (PIPEDA)

All data processing occurs on your device. We don't collect, use, or disclose personal information. You can withdraw consent by deleting the app.

For Australian Users (Privacy Act 1988)

F0cusly handles personal information in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles. Since data remains on your device, cross-border disclosure obligations don't apply.
